Range RoverA premier in the luxury SUV market is the British brand Range Rover from Land Rover, now a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. Land Rover has been though a succession of notable owners and BMW is one of them. Most people claim that it is the first luxury sport utility vehicle although other SUV’s are released to the market before it. It debut in 1970 as an improvement of Land Rover model series in terms of technological features that include the 3.5 L aluminum Rover V8 engine. That year is the start of the first generation Range Rover commonly known as the Classic Range Rover and it became popular in the United Kingdom. In 1987, the brand was brought to the United States. However, due to its weak design, the car suffered electrolytic corrosion especially as it approaches 20 year service. This had been a major challenge that marked the company’s history but correction came easily by using corrosion resistant materials for the car. It was a lesson that made the company wiser and opens strict company technological consciousness. It was after 25 years since its first release that the second and more luxurious Range Rover generation, the P38A, was introduced in 1995. Shortly after Range Rover P38A was launched in the market, the third generation Range Rovers opened to the market in 2002. Today, the most recent model series of the car is the Range Rover Sport with the adaptation of Jaguar car engine which also owned by Ford. More explorations are on going to improve the durability of Range Rover luxury cars without compromising beauty and style. |
