Mazda

Based in Hiroshima, Japan, Mazda has widely penetrated the automotive industry since its start in 1920. It has established distributors in Asia Pacific, North & South America, Europe and Middle East & Africa. AutoAlliance International, Inc. is the company’s representative in the United States. It is interesting to know how this Japanese brand had leveled with established European car manufacturers and conquered the world.

To start with, its unique name was taken from the Zoroastrian God of Reason Ahura Mazda. It was founded by Jujiro Matsuda as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd.

Some of its early vehicles include the three-wheel truck Mazdago in 1931 and four-door Mazda Carol in 1962. Later on, the Mazda sports car series began with the launch of Mazda RX in 1978. It was further highlighted by the release of the best selling roadster Mazda MX-5 in 1989. The company’s efforts in sports car innovation finally paid off when it won the Le Mans 24-Hour through Mazda 787B in 1991. It was first time for a Japanese brand to win such competition. More than 75 years of experience and success in the automotive industry speaks a lot of its future promise of leading the business. Mazda is further strengthened by its partnership with Ford Motor Corporation which started in 1969.
